My research has focused on three issues: (1) the effect of marriage on wages across cohorts in the United States (Journal of Marriage and Family), (2) race and gender differences in returns to education (Social Science Research), and (3) race and cohort differences in family formation trends across generations in the United States (Socius: Sociological Research for a Dynamic World).

Some of my most recent work also explores (1) the gendered impact of parenthood on job-related training participation (European Sociological Review), (2) the relationship between motherhood and self-employment participation (Research Handbook on Self-Employment and Public Policy), and (3) the role of further training on job mobility (Revise and Resubmit at British Journal of International Relations).
